Hey hey! It’s KB Brookins, coming to you with nothing but good trans news. This lowkey might be the most positive news that I’ve ever had in one week??? I’ve got good news in elections, in multiple courts, and at the Tony’s (among other things)!
But first, some trivia! My question of the week is: Who is the American physician, radiologist, tuberculosis researcher, writer, and novelist that was one of the first trans men to undergo a hysterectomy in the United States in 1917-1918?

In April, 2026, the Hawaii legislature passed legislation to expand their shield law to protect both gender affirming and reproductive care. On May 29, 2026, Governor Josh Green signed it into law. THANK YOU to all the people that made this happen!

Speaking of NYC: City Hall transformed into a performance stage Tuesday night, as LGBTQ+ city lawmakers converted their chambers into a ball.

Trump tried to send 14 trans women to men’s prisons, but a federal judge blocked him. Yay! Thank you to the judge and advocates that made this happen.
Qween Jean just became the first out trans person to win a Tony.
After a contentious debate in the UK, the Kenwood Ladies’ Pond and Highgate Men’s Pond will remain trans inclusive. The Hampstead mixed pond will also remain “open to everyone.” Woo!
Nancy Corcoran, an 81-year-old nun in St. Louis, is helping Catholic parents affirm their trans kids. AMAZING!
Transphobic U.S. Rep Nancy Mace ran for South Carolina governor and got 5th place. Hilarious! Upon learning this, trans U.S. Rep Sarah McBride said “happy pride.”

Republicans tried to grill San Francisco Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Maria Su about SFUSD’s trans-inclusive policies (among other things) before Congress this week. She stood her ground, saying that the district is supposed to create a safe and supportive learning environment. Thank you, Dr. Su!
A new poll conducted by GLAAD ahead of Pride Month shows that most Americans support politicians who oppose anti-LGBTQ+ attacks. Woo!
Several banners forming a 1,000-foot Progress Pride flag covered the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art last Friday morning as activists with Philly Pride 365, the city’s lead Pride event organizer, marked the start of the city’s Pride Month celebrations.

A bit of bittersweet news: Northern Kentucky University has awarded Murry Foust, the trans student who was killed, a posthumous arts degree at their memorial service. Thank you to the university for doing this.
The University of Washington has established a memorial scholarship in honour of Juniper Blessing. The fund will support students’ educational expenses while celebrating Blessing’s commitment to music, creativity, community, and connection.
