I don't understand why it feels like everyone is happy about Isaac Ranson's signing. He's a trans man. On a woman's soccer team. He should be playing MLS or USL, not USL W. I felt the same way this last Olympics when a similar thing happened and got similar praise. I'm a trans guy, autistic and by no means athletic so maybe there's a perspective I'm not seeing or understanding?
I have tried being happy that he is happy but instead it feels like slime to settle for a lie when trans men deserve better from professional sports than an invitation to the wrong team.
My other issue is that it feels like setting everyone up for pundits to point and say "look, a man on the woman's team and they're cheering about it". Deciding to selectively accept people to come to the worst possible views seems both plausible and likely to increase as conservatives realize they're losing the cultural wars.
Thanks for all this goodness, KB - and especially for lifting up the well-hidden story of Reed Erickson. 🩵🩷🤍

I mean, he's excited about it. Why not celebrate it just based on that?
