We exist above & below ground 🏳️⚧️
Friends, foes, and other h*es,
Hey hey! It’s KB Brookins. Please, sit down and take a few deep breaths with your eyes closed. I have nothing but good news. :)
This Wednesday, I’ve got political races heating up in the states, a huge win for trans people in Kenya, and fun videos helping trans people change their names on legal documents.
Let’s get into it AFTER some trivia! Who is the German-American endocrinologist and sexologist, whose 1966 book "The Transsexual Phenomenon” was the first major scientific text on the subject and established the first standards of care?

After the government in Kansas revoked trans people’s IDs, @Mayday Health stepped up by putting affirming billboards across the state. Shout out to orgs who show up when our government fails to!
If a few more people choose to become paid subscribers, I will be able to deliver make my newsletters even more robust. I’d love to, for example, interview trans artists/activists — or do more collabs with other newsletters and podcasts! — but that takes time and money (paying people is important!). So, if you can afford it, please support this work below:

California Governor candidate Tom Steyer said he fully supports trans athletes. Woo!
To be clear I’m NOT endorsing this guy — just celebrating that a politician is willing to be fully on our side & hoping other candidates follow suit. As a new Californian, I’m very eager to see how this gubernatorial race shakes out.
Texas Democratic candidate James Talarico is pro-trans. Now THIS candidate we should all get behind (his opponent is HORRIBLY transphobic [among other things] & Talarico seems solid)!
In the middle of America’s intensifying backlash against trans rights, voters are set to send Bentley Hudgins to the state Capitol as the first trans lawmaker to represent Georgia.
In NYC, many of the plants that call the Alice Austen House home are non-binary or sex-changing species, such as ferns and flowers that self-pollinate or have both reproductive organs. Hell yeah!
Friends, loved ones, and community members that are mourning Murry Foust, a 22-year-old trans man and student at Northern Kentucky University, are creating a scholarship in their name. This is a very sad story, but I’m glad that something positive is coming out it <3 Donate to the Murry Foust scholarship here.
A new 2026 ranking of the most trans-friendly countries in Europe and Central Asia has been released, and Iceland has come out on top! Thank you, Icelandic activists for making this country safer for trans people.
Have you been to Iceland? If so, would you recommend it? 👀
