Fruities,
HEYheyHey! It’s KB Brookins, your mailperson for good trans news. I’ve got hella good news and a Tony this week (oh my). Will the GOP ever get over themselves, will the Democrats ever get a backbone ?!
Let’s get into it!
Trans News That Doesn’t Suck: The Video
My video this week highlighted The Qloset, a groundbreaking network of gender-affirming resource closets in LA county called The Rainbow Resource Network created by and for trans youth, with a special focus on current and former foster youth.
I know that I posted about it already, but it’s sweet! Donate to keep this closet going here.
Now, onto the list!
Trans News That Doesn’t Suck: The List
Oregon just passed a law stopping schools from banning LGBTQ+ books. AMAZING! The law also includes books by and about women and people of color.
To coalesce their Pride collection launch, clothing company Levi’s donated $100,000 to the organization Outright International. This nonprofit fights for LGBTQ+ rights globally. This is great, & other organizations should follow suit (don’t just sell pride merch! we have enough!!)
English actor Jak Malone stood up for trans rights during the 2025 Tony Awards.
You know what? Hell yeah. If you’re gonna be trans (or a gender that you’re not) in a role, then you have to stand up for trans rights. It’s just right.
Eddie Murphy and Melanie Brown’s kid came out as trans. They support him.
The Bay Area Council on Gender Diversity, a trans-focused organization, is making waves in California.

The Oregon GOP tried to force an anti-trans sports ban and failed immediately.
AB Hernandez, the transgender high school student-athlete who won her state’s competitions for the high jump and the long jump, isn’t scared of Trump.
The documentary State of Firsts, that captures the history of Sarah McBride’s rise as the first transgender member of Congress, is debuting at Tribeca Film Festival this Saturday!
People raised more than $70K for transgender woman’s hospital bill.
The largest-ever survey of transgender adults in the United States confirms what trans people have long known: support, especially from family, can be a matter of life and death.
New Mexico House Representative Melanie Stansbury says “In my personal opinion, I think that the Republican fixation on trans lives is weird” after embarrassing M*j*rie T*ylor Gr*ene.
I hope that more Democrats stand up for trans rights, not just by calling them weird, but by obstructing their ability to spread misinformation about people that they refuse to understand. Time’s up for, also, treating any of their arguments as legitimate (I’m looking at you, Simone Biles).
That’s all, folks! What is one good thing that happened to you this week? Tell me in the comments.
Till next time,
KB

A good thing that happened to me is going to a motor museum for my birthday, and finding a pleasant surprise in the form of a cabinet on early queer motorsport history, including the first trans woman to transition in the UK
