My guess was Christine Jorgensen

Yes JB, I figured it was Christine Jorgensen. I'm hardly the trans history buff, and I really need to brush up.

But listen, just because there are decisions and legislation news doesn't always mean that's the whole story. And I think the journalists that are LGBTQ+ and trans supporting, often are not digging deep enough. They are not exploring what these decisions will mean. And the true outcomes. Or what the changes actually will be for life here in Florida.

Instead, much of the news reported covers wins and losses for us. Like the occasional legislative victory. But I don't only want a scoreboard saying hooray for our team. Because I know the damage and f**kery is still going on besides everything. The First Circuit Court decisions around here don't really tell the story.

The University nearest to me is where I graduated from. UWF. A 3-hour drive west of the governor's mansion.

At the beginning of this year 2026, DeSantis put in Manny Diaz Jr. as UWF president. And he's paying him something like $946,040 total salary package at least. And that's big money around this part of Florida they call L.A. (lower Alabama). Education is broke around here. There's an exodus from public schools.

Diaz comes from the Miami area, and I'm familiar with Miami Springs where he was originally. And the guy is a conservative Christian soldier, a former politician in Florida, and a shill for Ron DeSantis policies to continue.

In 2022, Díaz sponsored SB148/ HB7 in the Florida Senate, the "anti-woke" legislation backed by Governor Ron DeSantis.

So what I'm saying is Mr. Diaz is still president there. And life goes on. And the law on the books isn't going to matter that much. I know of people here that have quit or been fired from UWF. One woman who holds a PhD, and was involved in diversity or one of the related departments that was dissolved over there. And is active in a church I have frequented. Mr. Diaz is not a PhD. He has a graduate degree, but is clearly not your first choice for education. Not with all the choices out there. The guy also declared bankruptcy a while back.

But the conservatives put who they want in the schools --and academic freedom and inclusion be damned. You really can't even whisper anything WOKE or liberal around here, and be in education. They'll come down on you hard.

I don't know everything about Mr. Diaz. And I'm happy that they put somebody Hispanic in there. Because this area is too Christian and too white. There's hardly enough diversity here. But besides that, Diaz is really a problem.

And if you're a student at UWF right now, you are probably a wimp and a loser. Because most of you are not standing up to this clown. And to be fair, maybe I just don't learn about it. Because the papers here don't cover things fairly. Liberal demonstrations and points of view are moderated.

But for most of you, just listen to your mommy and daddy, trust in Jesus, and complete the course work that Big Brother decides is relevant for you. So that when you graduate, you are just a cog in there machine wheel. And life goes on sideways at best.

Praise God.
